Mission & Vision
The YWCA Bellingham is part of a national network of programs with the shared mission of ending racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, and freedom for all. The YWCA Bellingham offers shelter and housing programs for homeless and low-income women, a thrift boutique with job training, free clothing programs, and community education and marketing programs that promote gender and racial justice.
We Create Real Change
Through advocacy and local programming, we create real change for women, families, and communities.
The Women’s Housing Program’s goal is to help homeless women not only find but also to thrive in safe, permanent housing. The program includes emergency shelter, transitional housing and housing for senior women. Our programs are client-centered, trauma-informed, and empowerment-based. The YWCA respects residents as individuals and tailors housing plans and services to their unique needs.
YWCA’s approach to racial justice goes beyond changing hearts and minds. We strive to transform communities, systems, and public policy.
YWCA also has an ongoing commitment – truly, a mandate of our mission – to provide leadership development opportunities to women and girls.
