What Women Have Done

Among the scripts left unfinished by Lorraine Hansberry at the time of her death in 1965 was the play “Toussaint”, considered by Hansberry to be her magnum opus, about Haitian liberator Toussaint L’Ouverture. In the prefatory note, Hansberry wrote: “They who were slaves made themselves free . . . It is a marvelous recognition of the only possible manner of life on this planet.”
